Ramesses the IV

The pharaoh I chose was Ramesses the IV.
He was the fifth king of the 22 dynasty. Ramesses was also the fifth son of Ramesses the III.

Ramesses became prince in his father’s 22th year of being on the Throne. During his prince hood by year 27 of his father’s reign he was shown to be responsible for appointing a new high priest. Some believe that Ramesse was the judge of the harem conspiracy but this is not definite. When Ramesses became pharaoh he was in his forties. He is also known for continuing his fathers project.

During his reign there was not much military action. The only action was with the sea people which bothered his father. Rammesse started a useful building program.
He doubled the number of work gangs at Deir el-Medina to a total of 120 men. As pharaoh he recorded the largest expedition it consisted of 8,368 men in the 3rd month of his 3rd year of his reign.

One unusual thing about he’s tomb is that there is little decline as you go through his tomb. This means as you go through his tomb the less destruction there is. An unusual thing is that the ceilings are decorated with two symbols that represent the book of nut rather than the usual styling of the tombs. They think that some of the funerary was thrown out of the tomb. Some of these materials are ostraca, shabtis, figures in wood, and glass.

The King did not live a long life. He only reigned
For about six and a half years. He was buried in tomb KV2
in the Valley of kings. His mummy was found in Amenhotep II’s tomb KV35. His wife was buried in QV74.
His son Ramesses V would later take the Throne.

The remains of Ramesses indicate that he was a short man who was bald. Also that he had a long nose and good teeth. His mummy is known in Cairo Museum.
